Twenty Transformations

[Voice Post]

I'm glad that nightmare curse is over, as it seemed to cause a lot of problems among everyone, but I can hardly say that it was the hardest thing we've been doled this month. At least no one was punching anyone anymore, then again, that one was due to a specific brand of stupidity. Really, who decides to punch the deities?

But I think perhaps the hardest is seeing Sam Tyler and Chris Skelton leave the City. They shall be missed.

[/Voice Post]

Left on Cameron Lynde's desk, with a note: Det. Tyler asked for the report, figured you would want it, as it might be especially useful now.

In the beginning, the Special Task Force was organized through the Captain of the Ankh-Morpork Night Watch. Our first recruit volunteered due to his proficiency in a unique sort of strength. He was taken on as a permanent member of the Task Force because of this, as well as his specific knowledge of magical containment. He was sworn in, and given a run-down of the basic rules of being on the force. He showed willing time and time again to show up when we needed him for his talents, or sometimes when we just needed an extra hand.

After we saw that he worked out well in our force, we let it be known that we would be willing to hire someone up in the special forces unit. In cases where there were helpful people that we felt could help us with something we were missing, and were actually interested in assisting us, as opposed to taking us down from the inside, we went through the same process as the full-time officers.

They receive the same pay as a starting lance-constable, but only on the days that they work. If they show good progress, repeated help, or an extreme assist when needed, then they might ascend rank, no higher than Corporal.

Most of the Special Task Force were not needed for emergency purposes, and could be contacted by traditional messages. In case of emergency, however, there was a clacks system method that set off a message to certain guards with bells who would run around alerting anyone in the immediate area who was trained, that they were needed.

[OoC: She's not mentioning that Sam and Chris were Police Force because she doesn't want the general public to know that the force is low. Also, pretend that the report goes on, and is more in-depth, because this is lacking as I really only remember the Librarian, Downspout, and Swires from the task force.]

A sort of voluntary task force?

police filter;

[identity profile] badhairlifetime.livejournal.com 2011-07-29 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. I've no doubt that in the City there are very specific talents that could be utilized.

[identity profile] heelsandlaw.livejournal.com 2011-07-31 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
We do have something at least somewhat similar with the consultants already, though it isn't exactly advertised very much. Perhaps we should change that.

police filter;

[identity profile] badhairlifetime.livejournal.com 2011-08-01 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
It could be helpful.

What sort of advertising, do you think?

police filter;

[identity profile] heelsandlaw.livejournal.com 2011-08-03 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
A permanent kind of network post, at the very least.

police filter;

[identity profile] badhairlifetime.livejournal.com 2011-08-04 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
We could probably tack something up at the station itself, too. If they're there on their own accord, it's likely that they want to help.

police filter;

[identity profile] heelsandlaw.livejournal.com 2011-08-04 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
Good point, yeah. But first we need to figure out what exactly we're advertising in the first place.

police filter;

[identity profile] badhairlifetime.livejournal.com 2011-08-05 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Right. Is there anyone who's really good at public relations?

police filter;

[identity profile] heelsandlaw.livejournal.com 2011-08-05 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I can managa but I wouldn't call myself good, and I think I'm one of the best bets we have on that.

voice;

[identity profile] heliolatrous.livejournal.com 2011-07-29 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
When were people punching each other?

voice;

[identity profile] badhairlifetime.livejournal.com 2011-07-29 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
At the beginning of the month. After that tea party curse.

voice;

[identity profile] heliolatrous.livejournal.com 2011-07-29 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
...I wasn't paying attention to it.

voice;

[identity profile] badhairlifetime.livejournal.com 2011-07-29 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah.

Someone called Captain Hammer actually punched a deity in the face, so they got back at everyone by making some people spontaneously punch people at random intervals.

voice;

[identity profile] heliolatrous.livejournal.com 2011-07-29 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
What kind of stupid revenge is that?

voice;

[identity profile] badhairlifetime.livejournal.com 2011-07-29 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
A revenge where people were getting angry at one another, before, after, and during the time where they were punching at either their friends, or complete strangers. It's also something that could have been a lot worse.

voice;

[identity profile] heliolatrous.livejournal.com 2011-07-29 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly. They're just playing with everyone.

Who wouldn't want to punch the Deities? [ This dude here was affected by the nightmare curse but he was lucky enough to have stayed off the network. ]

There's a difference between wanting it and actually going ahead and doing it.

Can we just skip to the part where you tell me who punched the Deities?

I'd love to send them a thank you card.

[Right. If you two ever go on patrol together, she'll just skip to the part where she reminds you that she's your superior.]

Captain Hammer. He's supposedly a super-hero.

[OoC: If you'd like to backdate reply to the entry where he admitted to being the one (http://horrible-protag.livejournal.com/14656.html) to punch the deities, feel completely free.]

Nice. Can't believe I missed that.

A few people had, apparently.
